Shir Harmony
Shir Harmony, the singing duo of Rochelle Potak and Bob Emerman, provides a broad range of musical entertainment. Based out of Port Washington, NY on Long Island, Rochelle and Bob perform both original compositions and adapted works, specializing in Jewish contemporary and traditional liturgic music. Each engagement is customized to fit the occasion. Their music enhances Shabbat and holiday services, as well as life-cycle and other special events.
Shir Harmony have performed in both secular and religious settings, including a black-tie gala honoring a State senator, community fairs, Shabbat services at various health facilities, afternoon teas, synagogue High Holiday and Shabbat services, as well as special temple and musical events. In addition to Jewish music, the duo performs popular selections, show tunes, and seasonal songs. An appearance by Shir Harmony will enrich any celebration.
The Musicians
Both Rochelle and Bob are prominent members of their synagogue choir and are active in Hava Nashira, the Jewish Songleaders Network. They have a unique musical blend and provide their own accompaniment on keyboard, piano, and guitar.
Rochelle Potak
Rochelle directs music education at two synagogues and has been involved in music since early childhood. A member of The Guild of Temple Musicians and The Children's Music Network, she is also a pianist for the Music Institute of Long Island. She has compose or arranged much of what Shir Harmony performs.
Bob Emerman
Bob has been conducting services as a lay leader for several decades and has extensive knowledge of the many forms of Jewish music. Additionally, he has been featured as a soloist at the Port Jewish Center.
